DESIGNER SPOTLIGHT

This Old House Idea House 2021

Builder and Designer Spotlight: Greyrock Homes

Chloe Winston Lighting is proud to have been the

lighting designer and supplier for the

This Old House Idea House 2021.

Working with long-term (over three decades) customers, Jerry and Sandy Effren

of Greyrock Homes on this stunning project has been

an experience we’ll never forget.

The lighting selection throughout the home is exceptional.

Jerry and Sandy didn’t miss a trick on this spectacular 3,700 square foot farmhouse complete with golf course and Long Island Sound views, a 22 by 44 foot great room, bunk room, and loads of extras including a plunge pool, putting green, fire pit and an outdoor kitchen and dining area,

complete with motorized retractable screens.

“I’ve had the pleasure of working with Sandy and Jerry on three of their own homes and several spec homes. Their exquisite taste is modern yet inviting and made this project particularly exciting."

-Candace, Chloe Winston

We had the challenge of a 970 square foot great room that accommodates their kitchen, dining and living areas.

So, we needed to get creative with the lighting design as the room is expansive with high ceilings.

Our mission: illuminate the space while keeping it cozy and intimate.

We chose the large cubist pendant in aged iron first that hangs from the windowed cupola above the dining table and centers the room

and balances off the space. The geometric design enhanced the space yet grounded the high ceiling and became the focal point of the entire house.

The Effrens have a big family and LOVE to entertain, so this great room

is the heart of their home.

For the kitchen area,

we chose three sleek black metal disc pendants over the island to complement and not compete with the dining area fixture.

Limited wall space for sconces created a challenge

to illuminate the space; one wall of the great room is designed with windows inviting you to admire the exceptional views of the golf course and

Long Island Sound.

Another first for Candace was lighting the putting green. We chose great path lights - sleek and unobtrusive - to illuminate the space

in the dark.

The rest of the lighting and fans in the house give a nod to the Effrens’ impeccable taste

and eye for design with many sleek and functional fixtures throughout.

“Thank you so much Candace and Rina at Chloe Winston for your knowledge, guidance, and vast array of beautiful fixtures in outfitting the This Old House Idea House.”

-Sandy Effren, Greyrock Homes

A truly fantastic project that we are proud to have been a part of!
